A Pomodoro timer that’s calm to look at

Work for 25 minutes, rest for 5, and repeat. That’s the whole Pomodoro technique, and this timer runs it for you: the break starts on its own when a round ends, and the next round is ready when you are.

Instead of a number ticking down, you get something calm to glance at. Pick a scene: a sand timer, a candle, melting ice, a lava lamp, a fireplace or a puzzle cube that solves itself. Each one finishes right as the round does. Or keep it simple with a plain disc, ring or minute blocks.

How the rounds work

  • Focus. Work on one thing until the scene finishes: 25 minutes in a classic round.
  • Short break. It starts on its own when the round ends. Stand up, stretch, look away from the screen.
  • Repeat four times. The squares under the time show which round you’re on.
  • Long break. After the fourth round, then it starts again from round one.

Questions

What is the Pomodoro technique?

It’s a simple way to focus: work on one thing for 25 minutes, take a 5-minute break, and repeat. After four rounds, take a longer break of 15 to 30 minutes. The short, fixed blocks make it easier to start and easier to keep going.

How does this Pomodoro timer work?

Press start and the first focus round begins. When it ends, a chime plays and the break starts on its own with a fresh scene. When the break is over, start the next round whenever you’re ready. After round four you get a longer break, then it starts over at round one.

Can I change the length of the rounds?

Yes. Pick 25 and 5 minutes (the classic), 50 and 10 for longer deep work, 15 and 3 for quick sprints, or set your own focus and break lengths.

Can I see the time from another tab?

Yes. The browser tab shows the time left, and says Break during breaks, so you can keep an eye on it while you work in another tab. You can also open a mini window that floats over your other apps.

Does it keep running in another tab?

Yes. The timer counts real time, so it stays correct while you switch tabs, and the chime still plays when time is up.

Is it free?

Yes. No account, no download, and no pop-ups.
